The state board of education has produced a proposal for a new, $228 million standardized testing system. I'm sick of people discussing the pension crisis in a bubble. It's not hard to find the funds. Eliminate waste like this. Oddly enough, it is area Dems like Villa and Hernandez that oppose this plan but not due to cost. So where are all the fiscally conservative Republicans?
Putting aside the ridiculous price tag, let's ask a more basic question. Should the state even implement standardized testing? I break hard with most educators when I say absolutely not, at least in most subjects. I think the case for standardized testing is strongest in subjects necessarily sequential like math. Every algebra 1 class more or less needs to cover the same material. Now let's move to the humanities where the case for standardizing the curriculum becomes way more dangerous. Do you really want the state deciding what books should be read and what history topics should be covered? Generally speaking you want things decided at the most local level possible because that will be most responsive to the people. It's why the EU doesn't really work and increasingly why the federal government is becoming problematic as states drift farther and farther apart. Let your school board and individual departments at your school decide the curriculum. Beyond being a waste of money, state testing puts way too much power in the hands of distant, largely unaccountable bureaucrats. Yes, I understand standardized testing and curriculum development are not the same thing but they are inter-related. At the end of the day, standardized testing is simply does not provide a $228 million dollar return on investment. Instead put the money towards pensions or use it to hire more reading instructors to boost literacy. This whole scheme reeks of bureaucracy and statistics for their own sake instead of actually producing solutions to improve life on the ground.
In this video I parallel the toxic ideas expressed in the Barbie movie to Pharaoh's injunction to the Hebrew midwives to kill all male children born of Hebrew women as a means of subjugating the Israelites and preventing them from rising up. this is the deep state's same plan just by different means with the American people.
Last night’s presentation on the War On Food was very insightful. I recommend you all watch this slideshow. Thank you Johnathan for putting this together for us. Knowledge is power and essential for us all to stay healthy.
At our next meeting we will have a presentation from US Law Shield. This company helps defend those who had to use self defense to save themselves or a loved one. Doesn't matter what the weapon was that was used. Presentation will start promptly at 7pm.
