In a surprise move, Richard Irvin actually took to the stage with all of his competitors, and he was received exactly how you would expect a man who has been spreading endless hate mail to be received. Sullivan, Bailey, and Rabine all took very vocal shots at him, calling him out for his lies, tactics, and overt question dodging. The low lights for Irvin were numerous but topping the list was epic tap dancing around the Roe v Wade question. Irvin claimed he thought it was improper to comment on a leaked draft. I published a piece back in December predicting the overturn of Roe and the issue being sent to the states. How could I do this? the court hears the arguments and makes preliminary comments well before drafting a ruling so we knew where this was likely headed half a year ago. The other questionable moment came in the first question on school shootings where Irvin appeared to open the door to introducing red flag laws as governor. This is no surprise since red flag laws are the current pet project of Irvin's Democratic party.
I found the other candidates to have performed well and to have laid out quality platforms. Sullivan exceeded my expectations both with the quality of his answers and his barbs at Irvin. Bailey and Sullivan were both very aggressive in going after the corrupt powers that currently govern our schools. Rabine had a funny closing remark and touted his record fighting the vaccine mandate. At times Solomon was actually the most aggressive and wants to ban CRT and CSE. Schimpf presented well, although, he appeared soft on education compared to Bailey. Schimpf wants ISBE to make some adjustments while Bailey's first act will be to clean house.
In the end, I respect the five actual conservative candidates for governor. Bailey's appeal really shined through in his closing remarks. In my opinion, he is the only populist candidate and is following right in the footsteps of the only populist president in recent history. Bailey appeals to the forgotten men and women of this country; the people the old Republican Party frankly do not know nor care exists. And this populist base is critical to winning any general election since many of these voters will just not vote if there is not a populist candidate. https://abc7chicago.com/illinois-republican-governor-candidate-debate-il-gop-richard-ivin-darren-bailey/11915124/
In this video I parallel the toxic ideas expressed in the Barbie movie to Pharaoh's injunction to the Hebrew midwives to kill all male children born of Hebrew women as a means of subjugating the Israelites and preventing them from rising up. this is the deep state's same plan just by different means with the American people.
